Review Of Redgrave Neighbourhood Plan

At its recent meeting, Redgrave Parish Council took an important decision about the future of the village. Councillors agreed to review and update the Redgrave Neighbourhood Plan, which was only made in 2022, but already needs a fresh look.

Why so soon? Simply put, the planning world doesn’t stand still. National planning policy has changed, and new strategic policies are emerging at district level. If our Neighbourhood Plan is to continue carrying real weight in planning decisions, it needs to reflect that changing context and stay up to date.

The Council also confirmed that the updated Plan will cover the same neighbourhood area as before, and that the Parish Council will continue to act as the qualifying body under the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended). That matters because it keeps control firmly local and ensures the process is properly recognised in law.

This decision is important because an up-to-date Neighbourhood Plan is one of the strongest tools the village has. It helps make sure that decisions about housing and development are guided by local wishes and priorities, rather than being driven solely by external policies or speculative proposals. By starting the review now, the Council is acting early—protecting Redgrave’s voice and giving residents the best chance to shape how the village evolves in the years ahead.
